Helping #teamhse with early cancer detection

National Breast Cancer Foundation

HSE is protecting our team by assisting to better access important cancer screening tests.

Height Safety Engineers is proud to be throwing its support behind Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. Each year, over 50,000 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer. And in recent times, this number has included HSE team members as well as our family members and friends.

Although the five-year survival rate has improved substantially since 1994 (76% then, to 92% now), there is still more that is needed to be done to help the remaining eight per cent.

Early detection of cancers is the best way to increase the chances they can be successfully treated. To that end, HSE has implemented a new policy for our team to assist them obtaining regular screening tests that can help with the early detection of cancers.

Screening leave policy

Effective immediately, every member of #teamhse will receive two hours paid leave to attend a cancer screening appointment.

Although the new policy is being introduced alongside Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it is being made available to every team member regardless of gender. While many cancers cannot be prevented, making screening tests more accessible fits with our mission to protect people as best we can.

HSE understands the importance of making healthcare more accessible for people. And that doing so helps provide better health outcomes not just for individuals, but for the whole community. We are excited to be making this step in helping our team access these important tests.

Fundraising for the National Breast Cancer Foundation

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is Australia’s leading body coordinating research into breast cancer and providing support to those diagnosed with it.

Their goal is to reduce deaths from breast cancer to zero by 2030. We support this.

If you are able, please help us raise important funds to continue the research that is needed to reach this important goal.

Internally, the HSE team will be hosting our Pink Ribbon lunch later this month as our main fundraising effort.

(Small print: All donations to the NCBF over $2 are tax deductible, and the online portal will supply you with a receipt upon finalising your donation).

We hope you can join with us in lending your support to a cause that is very close to our hearts.
