Corporate Responsibility – Environmental, social, governance
Height Safety Engineers are committed to improving the world around us and giving back to the community wherever we can.
At Height Safety Engineers, we recognise that our actions will always speak louder than words. And while we strongly advocate for protecting people through our work, we also seek to leave positive impacts in all aspects of our being.
We protect our team, protect the planet and protect the community.
Protecting the environment
Height Safety Engineers have adopted several policies to help reduce the negative impacts of our work on the environment.
In our offices we seek to minimise the production of waste across our desktop and fabrication areas. In our HSEateries, we collect empty cans and bottles, ensuring they are recycled and not placed in landfill.
Our business systems are transforming to reduce waste through replacement of paper forms with electronic ones. Where paper is still required, we ensure our supplies are from either sustainable or recycled sources.
Increased use of video conferencing has allowed HSE to reduce our carbon footprint by minimising the need for road and air travel in many circumstances.
When designing safety systems for fabrication, we are conscious of the amount of materials use, and seek to minimise off-cuts and other waste accumulated during fabrication.
Any unavoidable waste materials created during fabrication are collected and sent for recycling where possible.
Protecting our team
We would not be able to do anything if it were not for the HSE Team. Our team are our most valuable and important asset.
For all our team members have access to our complete range of training courses offered across our training centres. HSE also has clearly defined career pipelines where team members can develop their skills and move into different areas of the business that align with their personal and professional interests.
Height Safety Engineers understands that our team often have commitments that need to be attended to inside work hours, to assist our team in better balancing their personal and work commitments, we strive to provide flexible working conditions.
While we believe it is important for our team to be physically collocated to best work collaboratively and efficiently, in the modern world that cannot always be possible. Where we can, we are improving our systems to allow increased remote working – whether be from home or on the road.
Protecting the community
Protecting the community extends beyond the obvious work we do in ensuring ongoing workplace safety for those working at heights and in high-risk locations.
To ensure that our team is always delivering industry-leading solutions to offer best-in-class fall protection, HSE maintains a range of accreditations and industry association memberships.
Safety systems designed and installed by Height Safety Engineers technicians are backed by NATA-accredited certification of compliance. We are also full members of the Working at Heights Association of Australia, with our chief executive officer also sitting on the SF-015 committee which is tasked with developing Australian standards related to working safely at heights.
As an organisation, HSE has also achieved accreditation in ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO45001 OH&S Management, further demonstrating our commitment to ensuring best practice methods are in use across our business.
Our team regularly fund-raises for a number of charities over the course of the year, with a focus on causes that are close to us.
